IDENTIFYING FEATURES
Arborescent, to 15ft+ tall, branching high up. Thick dark green stems 6in+ diameter. Strongly notched areoles. Numerous golden to grey spines to 2in. White flowers.

Locality:Isla del Sol, Lake Titicaca, Bolivia, 12,500ft+
Origin note:Collected on the Sacred Succulents 2008 Bolivia field trip, Isla del Sol, Lake Titicaca. The sibling accession BK08601.2 is recorded as the same species from a patch of 10 to 14ft candelabra stems planted beside a house near the back of the small town on the north side of the island. The Aymara owner said a slice of stem is held against the cheek to ease toothache, and added that Argentinian tourists use it as a drug.
