Origin note:Bouncing Bear Botanicals, a US ethnobotanical vendor, put the material into circulation. Mallacht's Plants continues to distribute cuttings descended from those original orders.
STORY
Mallacht's Plants account: they ordered four Bouncing Bear Botanicals bridgesii, then roughly ten more a few months later when the vendor ran a deal, and planted them all in the ground. This was before cultivar names mattered much in the hobby, when people mostly just said pach, bridge or peru. Over the following years they noticed phenotypic differences between the various BBB plants, and concluded Bouncing Bear had grown them from seed rather than propagating one clone. They now list the plant as "[the BBB cut]" specifically to signal that no single BBB clone exists.

Name drift · high"BBB" names a source, not a plant. Mallacht's Plants, who bought stock directly from Bouncing Bear Botanicals in two separate orders and grew them on in ground, states plainly that there is no one BBB clone and that BBB were clearly grown from seed, because phenotypic differences showed up between plants as they matured. Sonoran Spores by contrast describe BBB as a single classic bridgesii cultivar. The seed-line reading comes from someone with the plants in the ground and is the better supported of the two.
