ORIGIN

Locality:Desert Theatre nursery, California

Origin note:From the Trichocereus collection of Kate Jackson, who ran the Desert Theatre nursery in California and referred to her Trichocereus as "sacred cactus". Verne Robinson preserved and propagated the collection.

STORY
Kate Jackson grew tree-sized stands of pachanoi along with short-spine bridgesii and the bridgesii monstrose type. Her nursery, Desert Theatre, was once the subject of a feature in Sunset Magazine. When Verne Robinson retired in 2004 the San Pedro that had been propagated there for fifteen years were dug up, by then 12 foot clusters of columns as thick as a leg, and an entire 24 foot truckload was moved to the California Central Valley to found what became Trichocereus Heaven at Escalon. Kate's original site is described as unrecognisable today.
